Charitable Giving at John J. Jeffries.

Categorized as Giving

Vital to our farm-to-table mission, John J. Jeffries aims to strengthen our local community through collaborative relationships with local farmers and businesses that supply the restaurant with pastured and humanely raised livestock, organic produce, and high-quality goods and services. In the same way, our commitment of regular contributions to local charity targets opportunities to strengthen the health and well-being of the community as a whole.

Currently, this commitment to local charity is achieved by monthly donations to the Central PA Food Bank for local citizens in need. We respectfully acknowledge the specific needs of local charities, though we also respectfully decline to entertain new individual requests at this time.

Another initiative at John J. Jeffries is its continuing commitment to “microloans” through the website. JJJ has provided over 849 loans in 58 countries to help farmers invest in supplies and to help women gain access to education in impoverished communities across the globe. When these loans are repaid, the funds roll over into new loans for similar individuals working toward a brighter future.

The Cavanaugh Family takes a broader approach by making quarterly donations to recommended global charities listed on The Life You Can Save website. As John J. Jeffries and Double C grow, so does the dollar amount that we pledge each month.

As a family-owned small business, John J. Jeffries strives to do the most good with each dollar donated. Guided by the Effective Altruism movement, the restaurant and its staff have put a lot of thought, effort, and consideration into the best ways to help people through charitable giving — local and global — and, just as importantly, to help spread the word about effective giving. 1. This is fabulous! I love the choices you have selected.
How could we prepay for a meal to still do what we planned with the Rolls for our fundraiser for Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center Gala at Bent Creek?
Gift Certificate at what value would you suggest?

  2. i was hoping to secure a gift card for a local, Lancaster event. Our silent auction and event – Women of Achievement – returns funds to house 50+ adults and children in emergency shelter (single parents with children all any age any gender) and independent living units for aging women of very low incomes. The event is Oct 12th.
We would be very grateful for a gift card! I am a regular customer and appreciator of your fine food and excellent staff.
